Prime Minister Nelson Oduber of Aruba Confirmed for Washington, D.C.–Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA) announced today the confirmed participation of The Honorable Nelson Oduber, Prime Minister of Aruba at the upcoming 32nd Annual Miami Conference on the Caribbean and Central America. The conference will take place from December 1-3, 2008 at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Miami, Florida. Prime Minister Oduber will be speaking at the “Leadership Forum” at the morning plenary on Wednesday, December 3rd. Born in 1947, he first became Prime Minister in 1989 until 1994. In 2001 and 2005 under his leadership the Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP) won the general election and he was sworn in as Prime Minister of Aruba for the third time. The island of Aruba is located off the coast of Venezuela and is sixty-eight kilometers to the west of Curaçao. It is renowned for its white sand beaches and its pleasant tropical climate helps to attract tourists all year round. Tourism and financial services are major contributors to the country’s national income. Dutch and the local language of Papimiento are the official languages of Aruba, but most Arubans speak a minimum of four languages including English and Spanish.
