SENIOR US DELEGATION CONFIRMED
FOR MIAMI CONFERENCE

Washington, DC — Craig Kelly, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, will lead a senior delegation of administration officials to the 33rd Annual Miami Conference on the Caribbean and Central America, November 30 – December 2, 2009. Ambassador Kelly will speak at the opening Policy Plenary, December 1st.

He will be joined in Miami by Rick C. Wade, Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Commerce; Walter Bastian, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce, Western Hemisphere; Velia de Pirro, Director for the Caribbean, US Department of State; and Joe Garcia, Office of Economic Impact of the US Department of Energy.

The Miami Conference is unique in its blend of business and policy, roundtables and plenary sessions focusing on the critical issues affecting the Caribbean and Central America. This year delegates will be coming from throughout the hemisphere, Europe, and Asia for the 3 days of meetings and networking events. Major multi-lateral institutions will be represented, joining with policy and business leaders, and international organizations, to focus on such diverse topics as energy, financial services, tourism, Cuba, and education, to name a few.
