Secretary-General Carrington of CARICOM Confirmed for Miami Conference Washington, D.C.–Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA) announced today the participation of Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of CARICOM at the upcoming Miami Conference on the Caribbean Basin. The Conference is scheduled to take place December 4-6, 2006 at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Miami Florida. Secretary General Carrington will deliver a keynote address at the Opening Dinner on Monday, 4 December 2006. Dr. Carrington is the recipient of the Trinidad and Tobago’s highest national award, the Trinity Cross and has served at the CARICOM Secretariat, in the capacity of Secretary-General for more than a decade. The Miami Conference titled “A United Third Border” is an important milestone for CCAA as we celebrate 30 years of involvement in the economic development of the Caribbean Basin, through advocacy, partnerships and alliances with the public and private sectors in the region. This year’s Miami Conference will continue to address current prospects for improving the economic well being of the people living and working in the Caribbean and Central America. The Conference will focus on strengthening the partnership between the business community, public sector and civil society to more aggressively confront the twin challenges of worsening poverty and increased global competition by attracting investment to our region and creating jobs for our people.
