CCAA Leadership Featured Speaker at Washington, D.C.–CCAA announced today that Anton Edmunds, the organization’s Executive Director and CEO will be the featured speaker at a breakfast briefing Friday, October 10, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the World Trade Center New Orleans. Edmunds is scheduled to speak on “Central America and the Caribbean: Sustainability of the Region,” with a focus on opportunities and challenges to business. With rising fuel and commodity prices, and the challenges posed by the current financial crisis, the countries of Central America and the Caribbean are facing an array of threats to the sustainability of economic development in the region. Mr. Edmunds will address the impact of these issues on regional trade and competitiveness and the effect on key industries such as transportation and tourism, as well as opportunities for business growth. “I look forward to speaking to the business community of New Orleans;” commented Edmunds, “World Trade Center New Orleans has long been involved in conducting a wide range of programs related to trade in the Caribbean and Central America region.” Caribbean-Central American Action (CCAA) is a private, independent organization that promotes private sector-led economic development in the Caribbean Basin and throughout the hemisphere.
